After a lifetime of weaving creative fictional chronicles, Miss Gulkin took a leap of faith, in the form of a career change. A genuine love of words and science, coupled with an inherently creative nature convincingly seem to be the perfect recipe for magnetic marketing material; Alexandra would quickly establish herself as a thought-leader in content strategy, the science of SEO and creative marketing strategy.
In 2009, Miss Gulkin worked her way up from Copyeditor to Social Media Director and PR Liaison for Raymond Lee Jewelers, one of South Florida’s most successful and acclaimed estate jewelers. Her design and deployment of fresh new themes for RLJ blog posts like Masculine Monday and Feature Friday, along with Alex’s initiative of Real-Time International Trade Show Reporting earned Raymond Lee Jewelers a seat as one of JCK Magazine’s Best Blogs of 2011. Her organization and hosting of the Nat King Cole Generation Hope Event at the Boca Raton, FL showroom raised over $200K for the charity focused on keeping music in the classroom and helped to better establish positive brand recognition and community presence in South FL.
An executive recruiter actively reached out to bring Alexandra to the Bluestar Applications team, a rising web development and digital marketing agency, a solution was reached which benefited both parties. Resolving the dilemma of loyalty for RLJ, Alexandra would manage the social media efforts for all Bluestar Applications clients, of whom now Raymond Lee Jewelers would join the ranks of, still receiving the content direction she had so successfully established for the estate jeweler.
After a brief period of striking success leading Bluestar Applications online marketing clients, including a keynote speaking event at the 2011 CBG/Preferred Jewelers International Trade Show in 2011, Bluestar Applications was acquired by GemFind, a competing leader of web technologies and digital marketing for the jewelry industry. Alexandra was the only employee that GemFind recruiter from the Bluestar Applications team, relocating her to a new location in Altamonte Springs, FL to manage the editorial calendars and staff writers of the digital marketing department.
Following her work in the jewelry industry, which gave Alexandra her founding roots of notoriety in social media success, she accepted the position of Marketing Director for EDX Electronics, Inc., a global semiconductor with strategic partners including GE HealthCare, GE Aviation, Lockheed Martin, Boeing and Microsoft. Alexandra realized that using email and social media marketing for a business that was 98% B2B would have to be carefully crafted and executed to drive stronger relationships among existing clients and connect the sales team with qualifying leads.
By establishing EDX Electronics as a news source in the semiconductor industry with themed posts like Money Talk Monday, providing and publicizing beneficial content such as EOL announcements for prospects to utilize and launching drip campaigns for the 3 driving programs, Alexandra helped EDX Electronics to solidify their place in the online semiconductor industry landscape. She trained 3 interns from UCF while in this role, one of whom had graciously accepted an offer to join the EDX team full-time.
In this position, Alexandra cemented a tradition for EDX Electronics that continues to this very day. On the First Friday of every month, the EDX Electronics, Inc. employees each bring something to donate to a deliciously themed potluck lunch. The lunch would celebrate the accomplishments of the charity chosen for the team to volunteer or donate for throughout the previous month. One of these charities was Families in Transition of Seminole County. Employees donated over 5 boxes of toothbrushes, soap, pencils and more to underserved local children and families. This tradition helped to form a more positive company culture and two employees, who had met at EDX, were married during a First Friday lunch in 2016.
After returning to South FL, Alexandra accepted a contract role for Custom Earth Promos, rewriting over 1200 product descriptions, optimizing meta tags, image attributes, snippets and blog posts in Magento and WordPress. Her work as an SEO consultant and contractor for customearthpromos.com successfully moved the eco-friendly promotional product site from a Google PR 8 to a PR 3 in just a few short months.
Now leading the content and creative strategy for national leader of Mobile Personal Emergency Response System (M PERS) technologies, MobileHelp, Alexandra delivers concise compositions with signature scientific precision of SEO, SMO and SEM tactics, sealed with savvy ingenuity and delivered fresh to target audiences with seducing power. She currently leads the publicizing efforts that support MobileHelp Smart, powered by Samsung. Utilizing affiliates, influencers and link building campaigns to best position MobileHelp online, Alexandra is making groundbreaking achievements for the FL based company ranked one of INC.com’s 500 fastest growing private companies in the nation.
When she’s not composing, optimizing or contextualizing content, Alexandra can be found wielding kettlebells by the beach, practicing yoga with her spirit tribe, happily spoiling her oracle dog, and holding down the fort at Gulkin Gazette, founded in 2009 in the name of Preservation and Promotion of Creativity.
